On Possibly Replacing Regis...

Interview by Jeryl Brunner - Parade Magazine - June 11, 2012

Josh Groban is a man of many talents. Though he burst on the scene with his soaring voice, in subsequent years he has made a name for himself with his quirky, self-depracating humor (really, you should follow his Twitter feed! He's hilarious!), his acting chops (he played a nerdy cad alongside Emma Stone in Crazy, Stupid, Love.), and had impressive repartee with Kelly Ripa as her guest co-host on Live with Kelly.

At the Tony Awards on Sunday, he spoke to Parade.com about his love of Broadway and whether he's seriously consdering making a run at a permanent slot in Regis Philbin's former seat:

On theater being his first love.
"When I was about 10, my parents brought back a videocassette or the show "Sunday in the Park with George." The show was very intricate. And Stephen Sondheim’s music has an adult theme and is very cerebral and brainiac, especially when you are ten. But the music and melodies touched me so much. From that point on, my parents took me to great shows. I grew up in Los Angeles so my parents took me to see Phantom of the Opera, Sweeney Todd, so many great shows. So I got the bug. And then I started writing and got signed to a record deal. But my first love was theater."

On co-hosting with Kelly.
"I loved doing it. It was totally unexpected how much I enjoyed it. I loved watching the show and being on the show as a guest."

On being the permanent host.
"I don’t think they’re even close to offering the host to anybody. We’re all doing it because we love Kelly and we love the experience and I do have a day job. It’s always exciting to do the show. I have such a wonderful time that we’ll see where they decide to go with it."

Josh at the Tony Awards...

Josh joined Broadway's biggest night, the "Tony Awards" on Sunday June 10th...

Red carpet interview - 1

Red carpet interview - 2

Looks like Josh got one of the best seats in the house...

And a tweet from after the show.

Now the big question is when will Josh be in a show that will be up for a Tony? I kind of hope it won't be too long...
