Josh Groban Goes Bad on Glee...

From www.Broadway.com

Grammy award nominee and chart-topping vocalist Josh Groban will appear alongside Broadway alums Matthew Morrison and Lea Michele on the new primetime series Glee this fall. The singer will play himself "with a twist" on an upcoming episode of the show, which will begin airing on FOX on September 16, 2009.

"I play myself but I'm definitely acting," Groban told the New York Daily News. "I had to play a real jerk version of myself, so it was a lot of fun. I had to serve one of the teachers a restraining order."

Glee centers on a Spanish teacher (Morrison) who's tapped to coach his high school's lackluster glee club, with Michele as the group's star singer. Glee will include popular chart-toppers and musical theater tunes performed onstage by the school choir. The pilot episode, which aired as a sneak peek on FOX on May 19, 2009, featured music including "Mister Cellophane" from Chicago, "Sit Down You're Rocking the Boat" from Guys and Dolls and "On My Own" from Les Miserables, as well as songs by Journey, Amy Winehouse and Katy Perry.

Other stars confirmed for guest appearances on the new series include longtime Broadway alums Kristin Chenoweth and Victor Garber.

I've watched the pilot episode of Glee and loved it, so I can't wait to see Josh's episode...

Mandela Day Rehersal Video...

A clip from the rehearsal where Josh talks about the songs he'll be performing at the concert as well as his thoughts on South African music.

Enjoy!

**EDIT - I've just found this video from the red carpet - along with the other stars of the event, Josh gives his thoughts on Michael Jackson (@ 2:11) & Mandela (@5:38)

And yet another clip from the red carpet-

Mandela Day...

What a great concert to honor Mr Mandela on his 91st birthday. Josh performed two songs - "Changing Colors" which he had previously sung at the Bridge School Benefit (I previously posted a clip of this song here) and "Weeping", before taking the stage with Aretha Franklin to do an interesting version of "You Raise Me Up".

Newsday.com described the pairing of Aretha and Josh singing "You Raise Me Up" as a stirring duet, while the Associated Press reported - Among the eclectic collaborators were the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, who joined Josh Groban for his "You Raise Me Up." After the song, Groban told the crowd that performing with Franklin was "the thrill of a lifetime."

Also check out this great article from www.examiner.com with the title "GROBAN SHINES IN MANDELA DAY CONCERT"

AND IF YOU MISSED THE CONCERT...
You can watch the show again at the Mandela Day site.

When the player starts, just click on the "On Demand" button which is next to the "On Air" Button (below the player) and select the "Live Radio City Music Hall Concert Show". Billie Jean King introduces Josh around 1:49:00 and the "duet" starts at around 2:36:24.
Enjoy!
