Josh at the Emmy's...

To the surprise of just about everyone, Josh made an appearance at the 2012 Emmy awards to sing an "In Memoriam" tribute to the host of the night, Jimmy Kimmel.

Before the show, Josh tweeted:

It certainly threw many off the scent that he would in-fact be performing a stripped back, piano only cover of One Direction's "What Makes You Beautiful".  And as for the result, watch below:

After the show, Josh took once again to Twitter to apologize for keeping the secret.

Ok sorry had to keep it secret. So much fun!! Happy to sing the 1D to the not-late, great @jimmykimmel. Will miss you everyday. Eventually.
