The Best Red Carpet Interview ever (Pt.2)....

In my previous post The Best Red Carpet Interview Ever, we saw Chescaleigh interview Josh on the Red Carpet at the Emmys. The highlight of this particular interview was when we were treated to, shall we say, the most unusual version of "You Raise Me Up" (who knew Josh squawking like a parrot would make me suddenly like YRMU again??")

Anyway, Franchesca was the winner of a YouTube contest to be a reporter on the Red Carpet and she's just posted this clip where she tells the world what her favorite red carpet moment was... Can you guess what it was (actually given the subject of this blog, you probably only need one...) Yep, the best part of her trip was her interview with Josh Groban. She even admits that she made up the Parrot singing YRMU but Josh went for it, and in her words "Josh wins at life".

This girl is a classic. I really hope we get to see more of her in the future!!!

(I secretly believe that Josh has a comical, possibly M15+ or R rated version of YRMU that he sings when he's with friends. But sadly, the citizens of Grobania will never hear it - much to my disappointment...)

Josh Groban - Funny, you betch ya...

So I've been reading (O.K. some might call it trawling) through various sites all over the net to read about the post-Emmys buzz / reaction to the Classic TV Themes medley performed by Josh. I guess I wasn't all that surprised at how many of these critics and bloggers were apparently amazed that Josh Groban was funny and not an uptight / serious "opera" singer. The way some of their stories read it's almost like he grew a personality overnight.

I think Homer Simpson says it best...

Well I guess there are many people out there that are finally coming to realize what we've known for ages. Oh well, I guess it's better late than never. So as a bit of a tribute here are some of my favorite Groban funny moments thanks to YouTube...

Who knew that Josh moved to Antarctica and lived with the penguins...

What can only be described as probably one of the most bizarre rides Josh has ever taken from one radio interview to another...

We find out what Josh really feels when people want to touch his curls...

Don't you just hate that damn wind...

Who knew that Josh liked a good bake-sale...

After Loveline, we (exclusively) find out the craziest place Josh has ever made out (OK maybe not) and yes I'd pay $40 to be your friend...

Thanks Josh for sharing your drinking song (I must remember it next time "I'm a little bit drunk")...

And finally, you've gotta have nothing but admiration for a guy who'd sing a love song to Pandas...

And just because I heart 'goofy Josh' here are just a few of my fav. goofy photos...

A new vBlog from Josh...

Yeah - Josh has posted a new video blog.

2am vlog / snack attack. we've all been there -- Late Night Kitchen Time…sounds like a good show idea for Food Network. “Good Evening! Tonight we’re cooking campbells tomato soup. Again.”

One of the best lines - "Good lord I think I've finally done controversial in my career!!!

And Josh, feel free to go off the wall anytime you want.

The Best Red Carpet Interview ever...

Ok, so in one of my previous posts (Josh Groban - I think it's time to Step Back) I kind of made mention of the fact that I didn't really like YRMU and in-fact I wanted Josh to consign it to the "Never to be sung again" pile.

Well my friends, I'm a big enough person to admit to you all that my opinion has changed, and it's all because of this:

Groban singing like a parrot - pure genius!!!!

My Take – Josh Groban at the Emmys...

Seeing Josh Groban sing a mashed up medley of TV theme songs was the absolute best reason to stay home from work today. It was hilarious and was the perfect showcase for his comic genius, his incredible mimicry talents and of course his amazing voice!!!

In an interview he did before the big show he had this to say:

"Nothing I'm singing I've ever sung before, except for South Park with friends," Josh said before his live performance. "There's a lot of stuff that allows me to just be me, then there's a lot of stuff that allows me to let my multiple personalities to go play for a bit."

Seriously, that boy had so much fun and the way he just let go and allowed his multiple personalities to come out and play, just made my day...

He even had some fun on the red carpet (see this post).

And while I think of it – the best line from the red carpet was when Kathy Griffin told E!’s Ryan Seacrest: “I just saw Josh Groban on the red carpet. It’s got to hurt you that he gets so much more tail than you do!” LOL...

I know some ‘so-called’ critics weren’t that impressed with it, because it was so (in their words) cheesey. And yes, while it was cheeseball and kitchy, that’s what made it so brilliant. Josh didn’t hold back – Seriously, I don't know many other mutli-million selling recording artists would have been seen doing the Baywatch slo-mo run, the “robot” during “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air” and how can I forget his 'dancing' during The Love Boat.

Photobucket

Anyway, I think this is pretty much the full list of the songs he sang (or clicked his fingers to, or in the case of Law & Order just waited for the soundbite...)

The Simpsons
Friends (and yes, it did include the clap LOL)
Happy Days
The Golden Girls
Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood
The Andy Griffith Show (and yes, he whistled)
The Love Boat (even with a little Groban-esque inspired dance)
Law & Order
The Adams Family
The Muppets (Josh does Animal)
X Files (No, take me!!)
South Park
The Jeffersons (with a choir. Guess they had to use them on something other than YRMU)
Baywatch Theme (with Josh running on the spot slo-mo style)
The Brady Bunch
Cops (Bad Boys – I'd do anything to hear the full version of this)
Law & Order
The Fresh Prince of Bel Air (rap style with the lead in of a quiet "Oh God")
Introductions for Saturday Night Live, The Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O’Brien and The Daily Show featuring Johnny Carson;
Two and a Half Men
Rawhide
Gilligan’s Island
M*A*S*H ("Suicide is Painless - Broadway style with chorus-line dancers)
The Carol Burnett Show (with an ear tug at the end by Josh)
** There was a quick flash of the Cheers picture right at the end but he didn't sing any of the theme song

OMJ - Josh Groban has legs....

This was apparently in a magazine called "In Touch". Of course, I could be totally wrong, but I think he's wearing the same shorts as for the In Style" article so it that's the case then it's probably from the same photoshoot.

The little blurb that was written states: Josh's Malibu Retreat... Singer Josh Groban, here hanging out by the luxurious pool at his Malibu home, goes off the deep end more than people thing! "I'm not as serious as I'm made out to be," he says. Josh fell in love with this house instantly two years ago. After moving in, he enlisted the help of this interior designer mom, Lindy, to help turn his backyard into an outdoor oasis. Says Josh, "It's like an instant vacation out here."

There's also an insert picture of Kid Rock...Kid Rock comes to visit...Josh, who says his parties are often poolside events, has famous neighbors like David Spade and Kid Rock, who spend time there. Josh has been known to heat up the grill and make turkey burgers for everyone!

This is the original article:

The In Style article:

20 Questions...

I posted this on another site, but I thought I'd share it here as well...

~~~~~~~~
I feel like i should be in therapy - but yes "I heart Josh Groban".
There, I've said it, out loud and for the world to know.
Now I think it's time for 20 questions
Q. Do I care if people think I'm a little crazy?
A. Not on your life.
Q. Do my work colleagues know about my obsession?
A. Yep. I tried to hide it, but they all know.
Q. Do I care that people don't understand that I can listen to Josh every day and not get sick of it
A. No
Q. Do I spend more time on the web on josh related sites than any others?
A. You bet your bottom dollar I do.
Q. Does listening to any other artist give me the same great feeling as listening to Josh?
A. Not even close
Q. Would I travel to the other side of the world to see Josh perform?
A. Yes
Q. Have I traveled to the other side of the world to see Josh perform?
A. Yes
Q. Have I met Josh?
A. Luckily yes.
Q. Do I think Josh is hot?
A. Yes
Q. Do I like the duet that no-one's suppose to know about?
A. Yes
Q. Do I think there is sometimes too much drama in Grobania?
A. Yes, but it's like a train-wreck and I can't help but watch.
Q. Do I think Josh ever takes a bad photo?
A. Yes (but luckily more often than not they're mostly good). This is my fav.
Q. Do I think that Josh ever has a slightly 'off' performance?
A. Of course he does.
Q. If there were two songs I'd never want to hear again, what would they be?
A. That's too easy "The Prayer" and "You Raise Me Up"
Q. Do I have an all-time favorite Josh song?
A. That's too hard - but my top five at the moment would be:
  1. You Are Loved (Don't Give Up)
  2. Now or Never
  3. Awake
  4. Canto Alla Vita
  5. Mi Morena
Q. What's my favorite Josh duet?
A. The Larry King version of Angels with Sarah MacLachlan
Q. Which is my favorite DVD performance?
A. Without a doubt, Awake LIVE.
Q. What song always makes me remember something that happened years ago?
A. "When You Say You Love Me". I was bridesmaid for a friend and the morning of her wedding we were getting ready and I asked what song they would be dancing to for their first dance. She played it, and although I knew Josh and had his albums, it was just a great moment. We all sat around bawling our eyes out.
Q. Do I have any expectations about the new album?
A. Not really, but I'm ready and waiting for the ride to continue.
and finally-
Q. Do I want to know more about the naughty side of Josh?
A. Absolutely
News just in - Josh Groban @ the Emmys...
Josh will be performing a four minute plus medley of memorable TV theme songs as part of the 60th annual Primetime Emmy Awards on 21 September. (And for me the absolute best news is that he won't be performing "You Raise Me Up" or "The Prayer"!!!)
The Emmy musical team compiled a list of about 50 classics before whittling down the selections. Themes from The Simpsons', The Brady Bunch and Friends' made the cut, but many choices are from an earlier era, before business and ratings strategies shortened or eliminated themes.
The medley itself is going to include approx. 25 theme songs, and we're just going to have to wait to see what made the cut. I CAN'T WAIT!!! Bring on the Emmys.
Josh is pictured below with the executive producer Ken Ehrlich of the show during a rehearsal for the theme-song tribute.
You can read more about the show here.
Stand Up 2 Cancer...
A bit shout out to Josh Groban for taking part in a TV performance which didn't feature "The Prayer" or "You Raise Me Up"... (See my previous post)
In all serious though, it was great to see Josh taking part in this fantastic event to raise much needed funds for the fight against this insidious disease.
For more information go to http://su2c.standup2cancer.org/
Josh Groban - I think it's time to "STEP BACK"...
Hmmm... It's 2008 and as much as I love you Josh, I really think you need to take your own advice and step back - step back that is from singing "The Prayer" and "You Raise Me Up".
Let's have a look at a few facts shall we..
You first sang "The Prayer" with Celine as a 17 year old high school student as part of the 1999 Grammy Rehearsals. While this rehearsal wasn't televised (no we're not counting the shaky camera work of your dad), this was one of your first big breaks. Remember "Hey Opera Boy"?
Then in Nov 2001 you released your self-titled CD "Josh Groban" that featured the song "The Prayer" which you sang as a duet with Charlotte Church.
Then on 24-Feb-02 in front of a world-wide audience of millions you sang "The Prayer" with Charlotte at the closing ceremony of the 2002 Winter Olympics at Salt Lake City.
Ok, so let's jump forward to 2008 now...
In February this year, you joined Andrea Bocelli on stage at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards where you performed a spectacular duet of "The Prayer", and although I'm totally over this particular song, your performance was amazing.
Later the same month you joined Celine Dion as part of her "Taking Chances" TV Special, and well surprise, surprise you did another duet of "The Prayer".
Are we seeing a pattern forming here???
But it doesn't end there, in late August you were in London and appeared on the Charlotte Church show. Now this was a perfect opportunity to do something totally new and unexpected, but what was trotted out, yet another performance of "The Prayer". Yawn...
I'm not even going to go into the fact that you performed "You Raise Me Up" on the UK TV show Last Choir Standing... but needless to say, my thoughts about YRMU are pretty much on par with "The Prayer". (BTW - I loved the outfit you wore for this one... HOT!!!!)
Any yes, I realize that you probably don't get much of a say with what song you perform, so how about you step up to the plate and declare that both "The Prayer" and "YRMU" have been consigned to the "NEVER TO BE SUNG IN PUBLIC EVER AGAIN!!!" pile. I don't think that's too much to ask, although in all honesty I know this is only wishful thinking on my part...
Don't get me wrong - every performance you do is amazing, but please, for the sanity of all in Grobania
please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please.........
stop singing "The Prayer" and "YRMU". Break out and showcase other songs including "Awake", "February Song", "Machine" and my personal favorite at the moment "Now or Never"...
(BTW - you do make it hard because every performance you do is so damn amazing, that even though I'm pretty much over both "The Prayer" and "YRMU", I can't help but watch them. Hugs always xxx)
