Josh Groban - I think it's time to "STEP BACK"...

Hmmm... It's 2008 and as much as I love you Josh, I really think you need to take your own advice and step back - step back that is from singing "The Prayer" and "You Raise Me Up".

Let's have a look at a few facts shall we..

You first sang "The Prayer" with Celine as a 17 year old high school student as part of the 1999 Grammy Rehearsals. While this rehearsal wasn't televised (no we're not counting the shaky camera work of your dad), this was one of your first big breaks. Remember "Hey Opera Boy"?

Then in Nov 2001 you released your self-titled CD "Josh Groban" that featured the song "The Prayer" which you sang as a duet with Charlotte Church.

Then on 24-Feb-02 in front of a world-wide audience of millions you sang "The Prayer" with Charlotte at the closing ceremony of the 2002 Winter Olympics at Salt Lake City.

Ok, so let's jump forward to 2008 now...

In February this year, you joined Andrea Bocelli on stage at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards where you performed a spectacular duet of "The Prayer", and although I'm totally over this particular song, your performance was amazing.

Later the same month you joined Celine Dion as part of her "Taking Chances" TV Special, and well surprise, surprise you did another duet of "The Prayer".

Are we seeing a pattern forming here???

But it doesn't end there, in late August you were in London and appeared on the Charlotte Church show. Now this was a perfect opportunity to do something totally new and unexpected, but what was trotted out, yet another performance of "The Prayer". Yawn...

I'm not even going to go into the fact that you performed "You Raise Me Up" on the UK TV show Last Choir Standing... but needless to say, my thoughts about YRMU are pretty much on par with "The Prayer". (BTW - I loved the outfit you wore for this one... HOT!!!!)

Any yes, I realize that you probably don't get much of a say with what song you perform, so how about you step up to the plate and declare that both "The Prayer" and "YRMU" have been consigned to the "NEVER TO BE SUNG IN PUBLIC EVER AGAIN!!!" pile. I don't think that's too much to ask, although in all honesty I know this is only wishful thinking on my part...

Don't get me wrong - every performance you do is amazing, but please, for the sanity of all in Grobania

please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please.........

stop singing "The Prayer" and "YRMU". Break out and showcase other songs including "Awake", "February Song", "Machine" and my personal favorite at the moment "Now or Never"...

(BTW - you do make it hard because every performance you do is so damn amazing, that even though I'm pretty much over both "The Prayer" and "YRMU", I can't help but watch them. Hugs always xxx)
